WHATS IN YOUR TOOLKIT?
Y2B (YES TO BAPTISM)
Youth from First Immanuel enjoyed sharing a service project in December at The Grotto with other members of Y2B, our new Confirmation program. Y2B stands for “Yes to Baptism,” and we’re teaming up with other Lutheran congregations in the Portland area, including Bethany, Bethlehem, St. Mark and St. Timothy.
We’ll meet at St. Mark Lutheran Church on January 6 and 20. We’ll begin to explore the kinds of “tools” we might keep in our “toolkit” that will help us live joyfully and faithfully as people of God. Some of the tools for building a lively faith life might include prayer and Bible reading. What are your favorite tools?
SUNDAY SCHOOL EVENTS
May 18 is the last day for Sunday School this spring. We give thanks for our loving and dedicated teachers! For our children, with their open hearts, for all they have been learning! For our parents, who faithfully bring their children!
What a wonderful year it has been. Thank you to everyone who has participated in Sunday School and has made it such a wonderful year.
Save the Date! Vacation Bible School
June 23-26

First Immanuel welcomes you to the Rainforest Adventure. Come join the fun at Vacation Bible School, Monday, June 23 through Thursday, June 26. It’s free for children ages 3 through 12. We’ll gather each evening in Fellowship Hall, beginning with dinner at 6 p.m. Kids experience Bible stories through an interactive combination of music, art, games, worship, and drama! Activities will last until 8:20 p.m. each evening.

And…your help is needed. Can you help teach? Can you help do publicity to get the word out, or serve dinner? Bring your kids or grandkids? Invite friends? If you can help, please contact Nancy MacDonald (nmacdon37@comcast.net, 503/775-2069) or Pastor Aaron (pastoraaron@firstimmanuelluth.org, 503/226-3659), and come to the VBS planning meeting on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 12:30 p.m. in Sodergren Hall. We’re looking forward to an exciting week of Vacation Bible School!
