weekly scripture reflection
Easter morning was confusing for all of Jesus’ followers. The women who went to anoint Jesus’ body were surprised by an empty tomb and angelic messengers who told them that Jesus was alive. When they reported the news to the apostles, their witness was dismissed as nonsense. Peter went to the tomb and was amazed by the linen cloths left behind. The source of all the confusion was the “truth” that everyone knows: the dead stay dead. But Jesus didn’t stay dead, which means God’s power for life is stronger than death.
