weekly scripture reflection

John 14:22-29

Dear Friends,

When I think of the kind of home I’d like to live in, I think of cozy and bright with lots of storage space. Jesus indicates that he wants to make his home with every person who keeps his word. Jesus’ word is quite simple—love others as he has loved us. Putting that word into action, however, can be quite challenging. It is difficult to love those whose values or beliefs conflict with ours, let alone those who have hurt us or those we think of as enemies. That’s why it is so important that Jesus sends his Spirit to guide, encourage and strengthen us. The Spirit continually reminds us of what is most important—love.

Which of Jesus’ words do you find most challenging?

When have you experienced the Spirit’s power for living according to Jesus’ word?

Pastor Aaron
