Palm Sunday, March 24: Worship at 11 AM
We begin worship recalling the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, where He was greeted by people cheering and waving palm branches. This first part of the service reminds us all that we welcome Jesus into our hearts and are willing to follow him. Worship begins with a processional and the waving of palms. The Passion story will be told in a dramatic reading.
Maundy Thursday, March 28: Worship at 7 PM
The word “Maundy” is a shorter form of the Latin word mandatum, meaning “command.” On Thursday of Christ’s final week before his crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus washed the feet of the disciples and shared a Passover supper. Jesus commanded his disciples by saying, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (John 13:34). Jesus’ act of kneeling before his disciples to wash their feet was an extraordinary display of humility. In the same way, you and a partner are invited to come forward to symbolically wash each other’s feet or hands during worship. One of the pastors will be available if you wish to participate but need a partner.
Good Friday, March 29: Worship at 7 PM
This day has traditionally been observed as a day of sorrow, penance and fasting. It is the day we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and His death on the cross at Calvary. For us, it is a day of powerful mourning and reflection as we contemplate the meaning of Christ’s death. Good Friday is also a day of hope and new beginnings. We are reminded that even in the gravest of times, there is hope. Jesus’ death on a cross was not the end, but a beginning, the beginning of something new. Join us for this solemn Tenebrae service.
Easter Sunday, March 31: Worship at 11 AM – Breakfast in Fellowship Hall at 9:30 AM - Kids Egg Hunt at 10:30 AM
“Be glad, let earth be glad, as glory floods her, ablaze with light from her eternal Ruler, let all corners of the earth be glad, knowing an end to gloom and darkness.”
The Proclamation of Easter. On this joyous day, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Enjoy a light breakfast in Fellowship Hall starting at 9:30, and the children's egg hunt at 10:30. Festive worship includes Choir, instrumental musicians, and the "Hallelujah Chorus”—if you’d like to sing Handel’s great masterpiece, join them in the choir loft right after Holy Communion (music is provided). We will also construct the Cross of Flowers this day. Bring a blossom or two to help fill it with beauty.
